thoughts on stuff

Good for the Republicans and Democrats for defeating the Immigration bill. It was not a good bill.

Anyway, the Mariners are playing well, even with the resignation of Mike Hargrove yesterday as Manager.

They're 45-33 and have two All-Stars, Ichiro Suzuki and J.J. Putz. With a surge, they're one game behind the Tigers for the Wild Card and four behind the Angels for the Western lead.

Why haven't the Blackhawks gotten a top line center in free agency? Answer: Wirtz is a skinflint who doesn't want to win if it costs too much.

Cubs have won 8 of 9 to reach .500. They have a shot at catching the Brewers.

Cubs all stars: Soriano and Derrek Lee. Sox got Jenks in the All Star Game.

Mr Normand-You are very shortsighted. Yes, as Pat Buchanan, the smartest man in America, has pointed out the Immigration Bill was a terrible piece of legislation but it was the best deal we were going to get. Had it passed we might have been able to reframe Legal Immigration as well, back to more manageable levels. Now with the bill as dead as Prohibition we won't be able to address either problems of immigration. If only we could get McCrarran-Walter back on the books. --

You think that would happen? What about the possibility that people would take advantage of the loopholes and get other relatives in this country?

Who is McCrarran-Walter (or what kind of law is it)?

Anyway, have a nice day.

McCrraran-Walter was the 1924 Immigration Bill that governed US immigration law until LBJ overhauled it in 1965.

Buchanan is smart but arrogant and not particularly Jew-friendly (or any non-white ethnic group friendly).
Why he is an "authority" is puzzling. He isn't a uniter, that's for sure.

I don't find Patrick Buchanan arrogant nor do I find him to be anti-Semitic. His op-ed magazine "American Conservative" is very well done and raises issues other publications like the "National Review", "Weekly Standard" or "New Republic" won't touch. Furthermore, Pat's commentaries on his "American Cause" website are very insightful. Had we elected this great patriot president in 2000 we would not have gone into Iraq, a great disaster in my estimation, and there would be an effective immigration policy. I deeply regret that I voted for Bush in '00 when Pat was the superior candidate!
